Jose Mourinho has ban appeal rejected

Jose Mourinho has his appeal against a one-match stadium ban rejected, the FA confirms.

Jose Mourinho has had his appeal against a one-match stadium ban rejected, the Football Association has confirmed.

The Chelsea manager was handed the suspended punishment, along with a £50,000 fine, for comments that he made in a post-match interview after the defeat to Southampton on October 3.

Mourinho called the punishment an "absolute disgrace", but the FA has confirmed that it has rejected his appeal.

The FA confirmed that the suspended ban will come into effect if Mourinho is found to have breached similar rules any time in the next 12 months.

A statement from the Association read: "The Appeal Board has upheld the original sanction and therefore it remains that Mr Mourinho's suspended stadium ban will be immediately invoked should he be found by an Independent Regulatory Commission to have committed a further breach of FA Rule E3 for any comment or statement to or through the media before October 13 2016."

In a separate charge, Mourinho has also been handed an immediate one-match stadium ban and a £40,000 fine for confronting referee Jonathan Moss during the defeat to West Ham a fortnight ago.
