Guus Hiddink has branded Jose Mourinho's record in the game "amazing", but has claimed that the Portuguese's sacking from Chelsea is part and parcel of modern-day football.
Mourinho, who has won league titles in Portugal, Italy and Spain, led Chelsea to the Premier League title last season, but a difficult start to the 2015-16 campaign saw him depart the club earlier this month.
Hiddink, who has taken interim charge at Stamford Bridge for the second time, has paid tribute to the outgoing Mourinho.
"If you look at his record over the years it is amazing. There were many, many titles. But nevertheless things happen in football. People take decisions that they have taken and I come on when I am asked," Hiddink told reporters.
Chelsea have already lost nine times in the league this season and currently sit 15th in the table, just three points outside of the bottom three.
