West Bromwich Albion manager Steve Clarke insists that striker Romelu Lukaku will only remain at The Hawthorns until the end of the season.

West Bromwich Albion manager Steve Clarke has dismissed reports that Romelu Lukaku has a clause in his contract that would enable him to remain at The Hawthorns next season.

It was reported that the on-loan Chelsea forward will extend his stay in the West Midlands if he plays a certain amount of matches for the Baggies this season, but Clarke has insisted that no such deal is in place.

Clarke told reporters: "That is ridiculous. He is simply here on a season-long loan. Nothing else."

Lukaku has scored nine goals for West Brom this season.
