Half-Time Report: Late Diego Costa header denies Swansea City advantage

Chelsea hitman Diego Costa heads a late first-half equaliser to hold Swansea to a 1-1 half-time draw at Stamford Bridge.

Diego Costa headed a 45th-minute equaliser as Chelsea denied Swansea City a deserved half-time lead this afternoon.

With both sides boasting 100% starts to the Premier League season, something had to give at Stamford Bridge and it was the hosts that made the early running.

However, Swansea grew into the encounter and took a surprise lead on 11 minutes when John Terry diverted the ball past his own goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.

Garry Monk's side pressed for a second and came close to finding it when Wayne Routledge's curling effort beat Courtois, but his shot glided narrowly wide of the post.

Chelsea began to find their feet and could have levelled when Terry headed a Cesc Fabregas cross over the bar, before Lukasz Fabianski tipped away Andre Schurrle's free kick.

The pressure soon paid off, though, as Costa - whose four goals earned him Player of the Month in August - bagged his fifth of the season in timely fashion by powering a header past Fabianski.
