Chelsea's most valuable players

Sports Mole takes a look at the most valuable players in the Chelsea squad.

Fourth in the Premier League table and on course for a Champions League spot for the 2020-21 campaign, Chelsea will be one of the teams hoping that this season will be allowed to resume.

The Blues were unable to make any new signings in last summer's transfer window due to a suspension, but new head coach Frank Lampard has overseen an impressive campaign to date.

There is no question that the London club will be looking to improve their squad this summer, and a deal for Ajax's Hakim Ziyech has already been secured ahead of the opening of the window.

A number of individuals have impressed for the capital giants this season, though, and here Sports Mole takes a look at the club's most valuable players.

Injuries have really harmed N'Golo Kante during the 2019-20 campaign, but there is little doubting that the 29-year-old, in full flow, is still the club's most important player. As a result, it is not a surprise to see him top of this particular list with a valuation of £90m, some way clear of the rest of his teammates.

The fact that Jorginho and Christian Pulisic are second and third respectively is slightly controversial, particularly considering that the latter has had his injury problems this season. Jorginho has also struggled for consistency for long spells, meaning that central defender Antonio Rudiger - fourth with a valuation of £45m - might feel that he deserves to be higher up the rankings.

Kurt Zouma's valuation of £31.5m is also high in relation to Reece James (£22.5m). However, it is not a surprise to see the world's most expensive goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga down the list with a valuation of £36m as the Spaniard has really struggled for form during the 2019-20 campaign.

Tammy Abraham and Mason Mount are also both in the top seven, while Ruben Loftus-Cheek has been handed a valuation of £27m despite not making a single appearance this season due to injury.

At the other end of the list, veteran goalkeeper Willy Caballero is bottom with a valuation of £675,000. The 38-year-old was recently given a run in the side due to Kepa's struggles but will be out of contract at the end of June and is widely expected to move on.

Danilo Pantic and Lewis Baker are also down the list having only just returned from loan spells, while 27-year-old midfielder Marco van Ginkel is still trying to work his way back from a serious knee injury and is fourth from bottom.

Billy Gilmour has only been handed a valuation of £5.4m, but the 18-year-old has seriously impressed in recent weeks, and it will surely not be too long before the Scotland international's place in the list changes.

Olivier Giroud and Pedro are also down the rankings, which is not a surprise considering that both players are entering the final stages of their contracts with Lampard's side. Willian is also out of contract in June but has outperformed both players this season in terms of numbers and is currently valued at £25.2m.
