Demba Ba took just 34 minutes to open his goalscoring account in a Chelsea shirt this afternoon.

The Senegalese striker only completed his £7m switch from Newcastle United to the Blues yesterday morning.

However, he was named in the starting lineup for today's FA Cup trip to Southampton and he made the most of the opportunity when he turned in from close range after Juan Mata had seen his initial shot blocked by Artur Boruc.
