Diego Maradona: 'Hats off to Chelsea'

Diego Maradona hails Chelsea boss Roberto Di Matteo and his team.

Diego Maradona has hailed Chelsea boss Roberto Di Matteo and his team for their Champions League success.

Maradona, who believes that the final win was an example of what makes the sport so great, insists that Chelsea were not the better team on the night but were the team that most wanted to win.

"The unpredictability of football makes it the greatest sport," he told Times of India.

"Who could have imagined that an interim coach, Roberto Di Matteo, who inherited an overage and divided Chelsea would be lifting the Champions League?

"Chelsea were not the most talented team in the Champions League but wanted to win the most. Hats off to this group of veteran warriors."

The Blues beat Bayern Munich in the final after defeating Barcelona, Benfica and Napoli in earlier rounds.
