Lee Bowyer's men have begun to pick up points after an 11-game winless run that saw them slip down the Championship table after their six-game unbeaten start to life in the Championship.
Charlton have won two of their last four, providing them with a five-point buffer between themselves and the relegation zone as they try to arrest their slide.
Luton have also finally started to turn their woeful form around and have lifted themselves off the foot of the table as they look to battle their way out of the relegation zone.
The newly-promoted side had gone eight league games without a win, losing seven, but have since won three of their last five, including the previous two in succession.
Those results take the team with the worst defensive record in the division (shipping 66 goals in 33 games) to a total of nine wins for the campaign and to within four points of safety.
Luton are also the fourth-lowest scoring side in the Championship, managing just 39 league strikes so far this season.
Graeme Jones's side, however, are much better at home than on the road, losing 14 of their 17 away league games this term.
As a result, a repeat of the 2-1 victory they recorded the last time they faced fellow promoted outfit Charlton may prove trickier to attain this time around.

Charlton boss Bowyer has had to contend with a sizeable injury list this season and still has a number of players unable to feature.
Jonny Williams and Lewis Page are both out, while Darren Pratley is closing in on a return.
Meanwhile, Sam Field remains out for the rest of the season.
For Luton head coach Jones, there are three men unavailable for selection due to injury.
Harry Cornick, Dan Potts and Brendan Galloway are the trio sidelined.
Charlton Athletic possible starting lineup:
Phillips; Matthews, Lockyer, Pearce, Sarr, Doughty; Davis, Cullen, McGeady; Taylor, Hemed
Luton Town possible starting lineup:
Sluga; Pearson, Carter-Vickers, Bradley, Bree; Cranie; Ruddock, Berry, Tunnicliffe; LuaLua, Collins
We say: Charlton Athletic 0-1 Luton Town
Luton have won their last two games by a 1-0 scoreline and could do the same again against a patchy Charlton side to make it three on the bounce and close the gap between the pair.
