Ange Postecoglou does not expect the next transfer window to be as "chaotic" for Celtic, though he states that the club will be active in January.

Ange Postecoglou does not expect the next transfer window to be as "chaotic" for Celtic, though he has stated that the club will be active in January.

The Hoops recruited 12 new players over the summer, including 10 permanent transfers totalling around £20m.

Celtic have recently been linked with Japan forward Daizen Maeda, who plies his trade with Postecoglou's former club Yokohama F Marinos, however the Australian has denied that the Glasgow giants are in talks with any players at present.

"There is no doubt the Japanese league is one I know well, I have an advantage there. Obviously I know Daizen well, I was the one who brought him to Yokohama F Marinos but I can definitely confirm we are not in advance talks with anyone to sign anyone at the moment," Postecoglou said to the press ahead of Saturday's clash with St Johnstone.

"We are looking to strengthen the squad in January and we will. We have started that process but the difference is we are in no rush.

"Whatever business we do in January, it won't be as chaotic as it was in the last window. But a hugely important part of bringing players here is understanding their mentality and whether they can cope."

Celtic have had an inconsistent start to the new campaign, winning five of their nine Scottish Premiership fixtures, and they are now hoping to close the four-point gap to rivals Rangers with a victory this weekend.
