Callum McGregor signs new four-year contract with Celtic

Celtic midfield Callum McGregor commits his future to the Scottish champions by signing a new four-year contract with the club.

Celtic midfielder Callum McGregor has committed his future to the Scottish champions by penning a new four-year contract.

McGregor has been at the Glasgow club since the age of eight and has become a key player for the Scottish champions, last season proving an integral part in Celtic's invincible and domestic treble-winning squad.

Speaking to Celtic's official website, McGregor said: "Celtic has been part of my life for so many years and as I've gone through the levels club really has become my home. I really wanted to make sure I continued to be part of such a great club and it's a huge honour to sign this new contract."

The 24-year-old also praised Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers for his commitment to the squad in the two years the former Liverpool manager has been at the club.

"The gaffer has been great here in the past year and I'm totally focused now on continuing to work with him and the staff to always improve personally as a player and work as a team to bring more and more success to our supporters," he said.

Since coming through the academy, McGregor has gone on to make 119 appearances for the Hoops in all competitions, and the creative midfielder has scored 19 goals for his boyhood club.
