Celtic are "surprised" by the SPL's findings over the disclosure of payments by Rangers.

Celtic have claimed that they are "surprised" by the Scottish Premier League's findings over the disclosure of payments by Rangers.

A commission appointed by the SPL announced on Thursday that Rangers would not be stripped of their titles between 2000 and 2011, despite failing to disclose £47m worth of payments to players and staff.

However, Celtic disagree with the conclusion that their rivals did not gain any competitive advantage during this period.

"Like many within Scottish football, including supporters and other observers, we are surprised by the parallel conclusion that no competitive advantage was gained from these arrangements," read a club statement.

"We will continue to concentrate on our own affairs, and assure our supporters that at all times we will operate within both the rules of our governing bodies and the law of the land."

Rangers won a total of 17 major honours, including six SPL titles, between 2000 and 2011.
