Half-Time Report: Celtic closing in on Aberdeen

Goals from Dedryck Boyata and Leigh Griffiths give Celtic a 2-1 half-time advantage over Hamilton Academical.

Champions Celtic are 45 minutes away from closing the gap on league leaders Aberdeen to one point courtesy of the 2-1 half-time lead that they have taken into the break away at Hamilton Academical this afternoon.

The visiting Bhoys started the brighter of the two sides in the early exchanges, but after Leigh Griffiths had spurned two openings, Hamilton broke the deadlock in just the fourth minute.

German midfielder Gramoz Kurtaj broke into the Celtic box and when the chance opened up for him to shoot, he beat Craig Gordon with a low effort.

However, that goal only served to spur Celtic on and they eventually drew themselves level in the 27th minute. Griffiths's cross found Dedryck Boyata at the back post and the former Manchester City centre-back was able to sweep the ball in from close range.

Then, just five minutes later Griffiths turned scorer as Celtic went in front. Saidy Janko's cross picked out the striker, who was able to nod home his seventh goal of the campaign.

Ronny Deila's men continued to dominate proceedings as the half went on and they almost added a third goal before the break through winger James Forrest, but his shot at the near post was turned away by Hamilton goalkeeper Michael McGovern.
