Cardiff City boss Russell Slade: 'Kenwyne Jones return a huge boost for Bluebirds'

The return of striker Kenwyne Jones is a huge boost for Cardiff City, according to manager Russell Slade.

Cardiff City manager Russell Slade has said that the return of striker Kenwyne Jones is a huge boost for his side.

The Trinidad and Tobago captain, who was out with a shin injury sustained on international duty, returned to the Bluebirds squad against Leeds United in midweek.

With Cardiff now failing to score any goals in their last three games, Slade is thankful to see Jones back in action.

"It is very good news that Kenwyne is back, it is a massive boost for us," he told reporters. "It has been very frustrating to have to be without him following his injury on international duty and having him back gives us more options.

"You need to have players who offer different threats and we have not had enough of that in recent games as we have been a bit limited in terms of the forwards we have had available.

"So it is very positive for us to have him back, with Idriss (Saadi) and Kiko (Macheda) also close, and we know the threat he carries."

Jones has scored just twice in the Championship this season, but Joe Mason has taken advantage of the strike partnership formed with the Trinidad frontman by scoring four of his five goals while playing alongside the former Stoke City and Sunderland striker.
