Malky Mackay: 'We allowed Newcastle United too much time and space'

Cardiff City boss Malky Mackay is left 'disappointed' with his side's 2-1 loss at home to Newcastle United this afternoon.

Cardiff City boss Malky Mackay has said that he was 'frustrated' by his side's first-half performance in their 2-1 loss at home to Newcastle United.

Loic Remy scored twice in the space of 10 first-half minutes to put Newcastle 2-0 up, and although Peter Odemwingie pulled a goal back with more than half an hour remaining, the Bluebirds succumbed to their second home loss this season.

"You cannot start the way we did and hope to come away with something," Mackay told Sky Sports News. "We allowed good players time and space to get two goals.

"It's frustrating, because we were excellent in the second half. We penned them in and on another day we could have got something out of it.

"The way we played in the second half shows me that we are absolutely going into the next game with a bit of belief."

The result sees Cardiff drop to 12th place in the Premier League table.
