Chievo ease past Cagliari

Chievo score twice in the opening 10 minutes to secure a 2-0 win over Cagliari in Serie A.

Chievo have climbed out of the Serie A relegation zone by recording a 2-0 victory against fellow strugglers Cagliari this evening.

The visitors went ahead in the third minute through Riccardo Meggiorini's overhead kick after Cagliari had failed to clear a free kick.

Chievo doubled their lead five minutes later when Alberto Paloschi turned home Ervin Zukanovic's pull-back.

Meggiorini had a great chance to grab a third for the Gialloblu soon after, but he fired over when well placed inside the box.

Paloschi wasted another opportunity shortly before the break when he headed over Valter Birsa's cross.

In the second half Víctor Ibarbo was slipped through on goal, before seeing his effort saved by Albano Bizzarri, but it was the closest Chievo came to scoring as their winless league run stretched to six games.
