Bury manager Kevin Blackwell brands his players "garbage" following Swindon Town defeat

Kevin Blackwell admits that he thinks a number of the club's summer signings are garbage as his Bury side stay bottom of League One after losing to Swindon Town.

New Bury manager Kevin Blackwell has branded some of his players "garbage" and vowed that things must change quickly at Gigg Lane.

Blackwell watched his side lose to Swindon Town on Saturday thanks to a solitary strike from James Collins and later admitted that his team were not good enough.

He told reporters: "To be fair, we kept going, but we didn't work their goalkeeper enough. Sometimes the players have to take responsibility and certain players didn't do that. I'm not going to accept it.

"I've said to the board we need to change players and some new players are going to have to come in. I'm well aware of what's wrong here and I've been here seven days.

"Something's got to happen so I've got to change it and I will change it the best I can.

"Some of the signings have been garbage. The jury's out on some of them and I make judgements quickly. Unlike Abu Hamza, who took 14 years, I'll make a judgement quickly and I'll move them out."

Bury remain rooted to the foot of League One and are the only side in England's third tier yet to register a victory this season.
