Josh Brownhill scored a last-minute free kick to earn Preston North End a 2-1 victory in their friendly against Burnley this evening.
Lukas Jutkiewicz was close to giving the visitors the lead early on, but after latching on to David Jones's through-ball he saw his effort saved by Jamie Jones.
Burnley did not have to wait much longer to make the breakthrough as they took the lead in the 15th minute. Jones stole the ball from the Preston defence, before playing in Jutkiewicz to slot past the keeper.
The hosts looked to respond and Joe Garner forced Matt Gilks into a save from his powerful strike.
Preston thought that they had levelled the scores in the final minute of the half, but Tom Clarke saw his header from Paul Gallagher's free kick ruled out.
In the 52nd minute the home side did manage to equalise when Alan Browne saw his deflected strike from inside the box find the back of the net.
The game looked set to end in a draw, but in the final minute Brownhill fired a free kick past Gilks and into the top corner to give Preston the victory.
