Goals from Mihail Aleksandrov and Dimitar Rangelov have given Bulgaria a 2-0 win over Azerbaijan in their final Euro 2016 qualifier this evening.
The hosts started the match the better of the two sides, as Ivelin Popov twice missed the target early on, before the attacking midfielder forced a save from Azerbaijan goalkeeper Kamran Agayev.
Bulgaria took the lead on 20 minutes through Aleksandrov, who rose highest at a Popov corner to score the game's opening goal.
Azerbaijan almost found a first-half equaliser, as Mohammed Mirzabayov fired over the bar, before Rahid Amirguliyev narrowly missed the top-right corner with a powerful effort.
Bulgaria doubled their lead in the second half, as Zhivko Milanov found Rangelov with an inviting cross, before the striker headed past Agayev.
Rangelov came close to doubling his goal tally minutes later, as Agayev kept the Bugarian's effort out at the top-right corner, before Ilo Ivanov blazed an effort over the bar from close range.
Ventsislav Hristov almost added a third Bulgaria goal before the final whistle, as the substitute forced a decent save from Agayev in added time.
