Alou Diarra training with Brighton & Hove Albion

Brighton & Hove Albion manager Sami Hyypia reveals that former West Ham United midfielder Alou Diarra is currently training with the Championship outfit.

Brighton & Hove Albion coach Sami Hyypia has confirmed that Alou Diarra is currently training with the Championship club.

The 33-year-old midfielder is out of contract having left West Ham United, with Seagulls coach Hyypia suggesting that a move could happen if the box-to-box man fits the bill.

"He hasn't got a club at the moment and when I heard that I immediately invited him here," said the Albion coach, according to Eurosport.

"I gave him an opportunity to train with us and at the same time we can have a look at how he is.

"He has trained with a personal trainer but training on your own is not the same as training with the team. He is with us this week as well and we will see what happens. We need a midfield player. If he is the one, we shall see."

Brighton currently find themselves occupying 22nd place in the Championship table.
