Gustavo Poyet believes that his Brighton & Hove Albion players will have to be wary of Blackpool's Kevin Phillips tomorrow.

Brighton & Hove Albion manager Gustavo Poyet has identified Kevin Phillips as the main threat to his side as they prepare to take on Blackpool tomorrow afternoon.

The 38-year-old striker joined the Seasiders on a free transfer from Birmingham City in the summer and opened his account with two goals during last weekend’s defeat of Peterborough United.

Seagulls boss Poyet has revealed that his defenders are well prepared to face Phillips but are still wary of the danger that he poses.

“Everyone knows he [Phillips] is a quality player. Against Cardiff it was key for us to keep Kenny Miller and Robert Earnshaw quiet, we did that and we need to do it again on Saturday against a top player,” Poyet told the club’s official website.

"Kevin is very intelligent and we need to be tight. The good thing is that we know a lot about him. We have watched him a lot so we are aware of his strengths, but we also know that if we give him a yard he will shoot, and probably score.”

Newly-promoted Brighton are currently second in the Championship table.
