Ten-man Brentford battle to earn point against Birmingham City

Moses Odubajo scores a second-half equaliser to earn 10-man Brentford a point in their Championship clash with Birmingham City at Griffin Park.

Brentford came from behind to earn a point in their Championship clash with Birmingham City, despite playing the majority of the game with 10 men.

The home side started the game with plenty of possession, but they fell behind and were reduced to 10 men in the 16th minute as Clayton Donaldson was brought down by Tony Craig inside the box.

Craig was given a straight red card and a penalty was awarded to Lee Clark side's and Paul Caddis duly sent David Button the wrong way from 12 yards.

Birmingham should have doubled their lead when David Cotterill raided down the right and whipped in a dangerous cross for Wes Thomas to head at goal, but the forward could only guide his effort over.

The Blues continued to dominate and Button was forced into an excellent stop to keep his side in the game, as he denied Lee Novak from close range from Cotterill's cross into the box.

After the break, Brentford threatened to get back in the game with a well-worked move which nearly saw Alan Judge find the net with a 25-yard effort, but Darren Randolph tipped his shot wide.

Randolph was forced into action again minutes later as he raced out of his goal and managed to stop Andre Gray in his tracks as the forward attempted to latch onto a through ball.

Brentford got their deserved equaliser in the 79th minute as Moses Odubajo raced through on goal and lifted an effort over Randolph into the net following a defensive error.

Stuart Dallas almost won the game for the Bees as he shot powerfully from distance, but Randolph made an smart save to earn Birmingham a point.
