Half-Time Report: Late Louis Thompson goal gives Swindon Town lead

Louis Thompson fires Swindon Town into a slender 1-0 half-time lead over Brentford at the County Ground.

Louis Thompson has fired Swindon Town into a slender 1-0 half-time lead over Brentford at the County Ground this afternoon.

The Robins should have gone ahead inside 12 minutes when Tottenham Hotspur loanee Alex Pritchard was fouled in the area by Alan McCormack, but Smith saw the resulting penalty saved by David Button.

Buoyed by the save, the Bees grew into the contest and nearly took the lead on 20 minutes through Jonathan Douglas, whose header cannoned off the crossbar.

Jay McEveley went close for the hosts in the dying stages of the half, but Button replicated his heroics once more to preserve parity.

However, Michael Cooper's men took the lead on the stroke of half time, robbing Jonathan Douglas of possession before firing past Button.
