Fred relieved at ending Brazil goal drought

Fred expresses his relief at opening his goal-scoring account in Brazil's 4-1 win against Cameroon on Monday.

Brazil striker Fred has admitted his relief at getting off the mark at the World Cup in their 4-1 win against Cameroon on Monday.

The La Selecao marksman had endured a largely frustrating time at the tournament prior to his second-half header, and the forward told TV Globo that the lack of goals was something that had been playing on his mind.

He said: "This drought was bothering me, and the bad performances. But I think we all evolved, as a team.

"This evolution during the World Cup was a natural thing to expect. We needed this evolution, and to show that aggressiveness we've shown before in this World Cup.

"Three, four players fighting for the ball - that's the kind of attitude we need."

Meanwhile, Neymar claimed that the performance against the African outfit was Brazil's best of the World Cup so far.
