Two off as Preston North End held by Bradford City

Bradford City draw with Preston North End as both sides play more than an hour with 10 men.

Bradford City and Preston North End played out a goalless draw most notable for an incident that left both sides having to play the majority of the game with 10 men.

Midway through the first period, Kyle Bennett's foul on Neil Kilkenny led to the two players fighting and Stuart Attwell didn't hesitate to send both men off.

The dismissals seemed to have less impact on the visitors, as they enjoyed the greater chances with Adam Reach going close with a snap shot and Josh Brownhill twice testing the reactions of keeper Jon McLaughlin.

Preston's best chance fell to Paul Gallacher, who diverted the ball onto the post just before the half-hour mark with the Bradford keeper beaten.

It was as close as the Lilywhites got to a goal before the interval, but they continued to press for a lead after the break, only to see Bradford nearly edge in front through new signing Aaron McLean.

Brownhill continued to threaten the Bantams defence and thought that he had put Preston ahead, only to see his effort come back off the frame of the goal with a quarter of the game left.

Joe Garner tried his luck from the middle of the area as time was getting away from the visitors, but he snatched at his shot as the ball drifted wide.

In the end, Preston had to settle for a draw that may have dented their faint hopes of automatic promotion, with both Brentford and Leyton Orient both registering victories.
