Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe: "Result was coming"

Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe states that Bournemouth's "result was coming" following their away win over Chelsea, which came courtesy of Glenn Murray's late strike.

Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe has stated that his side's victory over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge was the culmination of a number of good performances from his team.

Having come from behind twice to earn a point at home to Everton last Saturday, the Cherries went one better by securing three points against Jose Mourinho's side with a late Glenn Murray goal, much to Howe's delight.

"This result was coming. We believed we were on right path, having performed well in many games. This was a different type of performance, so I am delighted for the players," the 38-year-old told Sky Sports News.

"The first half was quite even. In the second we had to dig in due to severe pressure. I felt we were magnificent defensively. Our keeper (Artur Boruc) was important to that. We have answered any questions there were about our defence.

"Our performances have given us confidence of late. The start of season was difficult for the team with the injuries we clocked up. Our balance suffered but we found solutions to our problems. The team looks different now but it is effective. I am very proud of the boys tonight."

Howe's team have moved out of the Premier League relegation zone and into 17th following the win.
