Antoine Semenyo suffers a "bad" injury in Bournemouth's 3-0 home win over Brighton & Hove Albion on Sunday.

Bournemouth forward Antoine Semenyo sustained a "bad" injury in Sunday's 3-0 home win over Brighton & Hove Albion.

Marcos Senesi gave Bournemouth a narrow half-time lead, before Enes Unal scored his second goal since arriving from Getafe in January.

Justin Kluivert went on to add a third to wrap up a dominant display and surpass the six-goal Premier League tally of his father, Patrick Kluivert.

The Cherries have taken their tally to 48 points from 35 matches, setting a new club record points total for a single Premier League season.

Although it proved to be a recording-breaking day, Bournemouth experienced a setback when Semenyo suffered a serious-looking injury in stoppage time.

Iraola pessimistic about Semenyo's injury

Semenyo was left clutching his knee following a challenge from Joel Veltman, resulting in him being stretchered off and replaced by Premier League debutant Dominic Sadi.

Speaking to reporters after the 3-0 win, Iraola revealed that Semenyo will undergo a scan to learn the extent of the injury.

"It looks bad, but I don't know," Iraola told reporters. "Until we do the MRI we don't know if it's bad, very bad. I think it's an injury, we'll see how bad.

"It's the knee, but in the knee there are a lot of different injuries. So some are better, some are worse, but it's the knee."

Semenyo major doubt for rest of season

Iraola's comments raise significant doubt about whether Semenyo will feature in any of Bournemouth's final three games against Arsenal, Brentford and Chelsea.

The 24-year-old winger has been a regular fixture in Iraola's side, registering eight goals and two assists in 30 Premier League appearances.

Iraola has already seen his wide options affected by injuries to Marcus Tavernier and Luis Sinisterra in recent weeks.

The Bournemouth boss is also currently without the services of Ryan Fredericks, Romain Faivre and Tyler Adams, while Milos Kerkez still has two games left to run on a three-match suspension.
