Bournemouth vs. Ipswich Town: Head-to-head record and past meetings

Ahead of Wednesday's Premier League clash between Bournemouth and Ipswich, Sports Mole looks at the head-to-head record and previous meetings between the two clubs.

Bournemouth will try to claw back some ground on the Premier League's European places when they welcome relegation-threatened Ipswich Town to the Vitality Stadium on Wednesday.

Andoni Iraola's Cherries are down in tenth with 44 points but remain only four behind fifth-placed Manchester City, while Kieran McKenna's Tractor Boys are 18th having earned 17 points and are nine from safety.

Here, Sports Mole takes an in-depth look at the head-to-head record and previous meetings between the two sides.

Bournemouth and Ipswich may have only met a handful of times in the 21st century, but their matchups in that time have been close contests regardless of whether they were playing in the top flight or the Championship.

It is notable that both sides have been on the scoresheet in each of their last eight encounters across the past 36 years, including during their most recent showdown back in December 2024.

In that clash, it was the Tractor Boys that opened the scoring thanks to Conor Chaplin's first-half strike, but they were denied what would have been their first Premier League home win since 2002 when substitute Enes Unal scored a scruffy equaliser with three minutes to play, and the Cherries snatched all three points courtesy of Dango Ouattara's 95th-minute winner.

That victory means that Iraola's men have the chance to give Bournemouth their first league double over Ipswich since the 1949-50 season when both teams were competing in the Third Division South.

Additionally, while Ipswich have managed 11 victories in this fixture, they have only won one of their away league games against their opponents, a 3-2 triumph back in September 1953.

The 2024-25 campaign represents the first time in nine seasons that Bournemouth and Ipswich are in the same division, but with McKenna's team at serious risk of demotion, it may be a while before these sides get the chance to face off again outside of cup competitions.
