Bournemouth winger Matt Ritchie hopes Scotland call-up will improve club form

Bournemouth's Matt Ritchie believes that his call-up to the senior Scotland squad will benefit his form at club level.

Bournemouth winger Matt Ritchie has expressed his delight at his receiving his first senior international call-up with Scotland.

The 25-year-old has been one of the Cherries' standout players this season, helping them to the top of the Championship with nine games of the season remaining.

It was announced today that Ritchie, who was born on the South Coast but qualifies for Scotland because of his father Alex, could be involved in the upcoming games against Northern Ireland and Gibraltar.

The winger is hoping that the experience will benefit his club form.

"You look at all the big clubs and they have players who are playing at international level," Ritchie told the club website.

"If I can gain some experience doing that, it will only be good for my club football as well."

Despite qualifying to play for the Scots, Ritchie, who has 11 goals and 12 assists in the Championship this season, revealed that he has never been North of the border.
