Ilkay Gundogan: 'Marco Reus injury is rock bottom for Borussia Dortmund'

Ilkay Gundogan admits that things "can't get any worse" for Borussia Dortmund following the news of Marco Reus's latest ankle injury.

Borussia Dortmund star Ilkay Gundogan believes that Marco Reus's latest injury represents rock bottom for the Bundesliga giants.

Reus was stretchered off with suspected ankle ligament damage on Saturday as Jurgen Klopp's side surrendered a two-goal lead against SC Paderborn.

The result was the latest setback for a Dortmund team who sit 15th in the German top flight, two points above the relegation zone, and Gundogan says that things cannot get much worse.

"It can't really get any worse," he told the club's official website. "It's tough for all of us, not just for Marco. We're all hoping he gets some good fortune amidst all the bad luck."

The club released a statement earlier today revealing that Reus will miss the rest of 2014.
