Borussia Dortmund head coach Jurgen Klopp has admitted that he is fearing the worst after Marco Reus was forced off with an ankle injury in the 2-2 draw with SC Paderborn on Saturday.
Reus, who has already injured his ankle on three previous occasions in 2014, had to be stretchered off following a challenge from Marvin Bakalorz, and Klopp claims that the Paderborn midfielder was fortunate to remain on the pitch.
"It was a horrific moment, because Marco is now in hospital with a very swollen foot and we're all expecting a bad diagnosis," Klopp told reporters.
"It's a red card. A draw in Paderborn isn't that dramatic, but the potential long-term loss of Reus is harder to accept."
The draw with Paderborn left Dortmund 15th in the Bundesliga table.
