Jonas Hofmann has given Borussia Dortmund a 1-0 lead over Bayer Leverkusen as they look to continue their perfect start to the Bundesliga season.

Dortmund dominated the early stages of the match and nearly took the lead when Henrikh Mkhitaryan's powerful strike was pushed wide by Bernd Leno.

Ilkay Gundogan then had a chance less than a minute later but he scuffed his shot wide.

Thomas Tuchel's men finally broke the deadlock in the 19th minute when Shinji Kagawa's brilliant long pass found Hofmann, who avoided the offside trap to put it past an onrushing Leno.

Javier Hernandez nearly levelled the scoreline just a minute later when he was sent clean through on goal, but he failed to find the target from outside the box.
