Coyle: 'No club reached Cahill price'

Bolton Wanderers boss Owen Coyle reveals that no team came close to the "club's valuation" of Gary Cahill.

Bolton Wanderers manager Owen Coyle has revealed that no club made a bid for defender Gary Cahill during the transfer window that was worth considering.

Both Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur were linked with moves for the England international, who has entered the final year of his contract at the Reebok Stadium.

However, neither North London side was successful in their attempt to sign the 25-year-old and Coyle has claimed that no official offer was lodged from any club.

"The bottom line is the clubs involved did not get close to what the club's valuation is of Gary Cahill to sell," the Wanderers boss told a press conference.

"That valuation to sell (because of his contract situation) would probably be less than what my valuation of him as a manager is, but the business side of it you have to look at.

"I don't know if they didn't think he was worth the money. It might have been a case of those clubs involved maybe didn't have that amount."

Cahill scored his first England goal during Friday's 3-0 victory against Bulgaria.
