Bolton Wanderers will reportedly find out within the next 48 hours whether Dean Holdsworth's proposed takeover is still in the pipeline.
The former club captain is said to have discussed investing in Wanderers on behalf of company Sports Shield Consultancy, although no firm offer has yet been placed on the table.
According to The Bolton News, a decision is now close to being made following Holdsworth's departure from his managerial role at Ryman Premier League side Brentwood Town.
It is also suggested that Sports Shield is looking for a complete takeover of the Lancashire outfit, which is likely to be made clearer at the weekend.
Bolton are on the market for a sum in the region of £30m although, despite rumoured interest from Russia, India, the Middle East and Israel, no offer is thought to have yet been made for the Championship club.
