Bolton Wanderers winger Chris Eagles is expected to miss Tuesday's League Cup clash with Shrewsbury Town.

The former Manchester United midfielder, who joined the Trotters in 2011, limped out of the club's 1-1 draw with Burnley in the Championship on Saturday.

Eagles had initially been expected to return to training on Monday, but it is believed that he will not be fit to take part in the first-round tie.

Stuart Holden, Joe Riley and Mark Davies are long-term absentees.
