Bolton Wanderers boss Dougie Freedman has hailed the impact midfielder Chris Eagles has had on his side's surge towards the Championship playoff places.

The former Manchester United man has come into the fold in recent weeks for the Trotters following an injury to Mark Davies and has put in several impressive performances.

Freedman told Sky Sports News: "I've got the pleasure of seeing Chris day in, day out and he can be a pain in the backside because he wants to play every single match.

"But I've got to try and select him to be fit for certain matches where I think he can make the difference. His enthusiasm rubs off on people and we've seen that - his enthusiasm to get on to balls and create opportunities."

Bolton are eighth in the Championship, just two points behind Brighton & Hove Albion in the final playoff place.
