Preview: Bologna vs. AC Milan

Sports Mole previews Wednesday's Serie A clash between Bologna and AC Milan.

AC Milan will attempt to record just their second Serie A victory of the season when they make the trip to struggling Bologna on Wednesday.

The home side, who are without a league win this campaign, enter the match on the back of a 2-1 home defeat to Torino at the weekend, a result that left them in 17th spot in the table.

Meanwhile, Milan were beaten 2-1 at the San Siro by Rafael Benitez's Napoli. That loss means that they have taken just four points from their first four games of the 2013-14 campaign and consequently sit in 12th position.

However, the Rossoneri have enjoyed recent success against Bologna, winning three of the last five matches between the two sides, including both league meetings last season.

Bologna's defeat at the weekend was their first in three matches, but they have won just one of their last five – an Italian Cup fixture against Brescia on August 17. Milan, meanwhile, have won three of their last five matches in all competitions, two of which have been in the Champions League.

Bologna coach Stefano Pioli has no fresh injury concerns from their defeat to Torino at the weekend and could name the same XI for the clash at the Stadio Renato Dall'Ara. However, Andrea Mantovani and Robert Acquafresca are both pushing for starts after appearing from the bench last time out.

Milan will be without the suspended Mario Balotelli, while Stephan El Shaarawy, Riccardo Montolivo, Kaka and Giampaolo Pazzini are also unavailable. Brazilian forward Robinho is expected to feature after appearing from the bench against Napoli.
