Renan Bressan's injury-time goal was enough to hand Rio Ave a slender 1-0 victory over Boavista at the Estadio do Rio Ave in the Primeira Liga this evening.
The contest started in a particularly industrious fashion as Nelson Monte went into the book after just four minutes for a late challenge.
After much back and forth, neither side could muster much in front of goal after a lacklustre showing in Vila do Conde, leaving Pedro Martins and his charges desperate to find a winning goal in the closing stages.
It looked as though Boavista might hold on to see out an away draw, but Bressan had other ideas as he stole in late to snatch all three points for the hosts.
