Nuno Gomes confirms that he is leaving Blackburn Rovers by mutual consent.

Nuno Gomes has confirmed that he is leaving Blackburn Rovers by mutual consent.

The 36-year-old striker, who moved to Ewood Park on a two-year deal last summer, has had the final year of his contract cancelled.

The former Portugal international told Blackburn's official website: "Playing for this historic club has been an absolute pleasure. Despite only being here for a year, I have enjoyed my time here immensely.

"I want to say a big thank you to [manager] Gary Bowyer, the staff, the players and, most importantly, the fans for making me feel so welcome.

"I will look out for Blackburn's results and I hope they can achieve their goal of getting back into the Premier League."

Gomes scored four goals in 20 appearances for Rovers.
