Blackburn are relegated to the Championship after failing to beat Wigan at Ewood Park.

Blackburn Rovers have been relegated from the Premier League after losing 1-0 to Wigan Athletic at Ewood Park tonight.

Steve Kean's side were six points adrift of safety prior to kickoff and needed to record victories in their final two games to have any chance of survival.

However, that wasn't to be the case as Rovers were beaten 1-0 by the Latics, who secured their own top-flight status with the win.

The result now leaves Blackburn with an irrecoverable five-point deficit to Queens Park Rangers in 17th, with just one game remaining.

The former Premier League champions now face Championship football next season after an 11-year spell playing among England's elite.
