Birmingham City deny Gianni Paladini takeover talks

Birmingham City deny reports that they are in discussions with former QPR chairman Gianni Paladini over a takeover.

Birmingham City have denied that they are in talks with former Queens Park Rangers chairman Gianni Paladini over a potential takeover.

Paladini claimed earlier this week that a consortium, led by himself, had offered more than £12m for the club.

His bid was rejected, however, and the board have now revealed that no further discussions with the Italian are taking place.

"The board of Birmingham City FC can clarify its position following recent media speculation regarding the ownership of the club," read an official club statement.

"After comments made to the media, the club would like to place on record that there are no discussions taking place with any group associated with Gianni Paladini.

"A takeover bid was made to the board's lawyers by representatives of an undisclosed party but this was summarily rejected."

Paladini was removed from his post as chairman of QPR in August of last year and left the club entirely three months later.
