Wednesday's Championship predictions including Ipswich Town vs. Watford

Sports Mole provides score predictions and previews for all of today's Championship fixtures, including Ipswich Town vs. Watford.

Birmingham vs. Cardiff (Wednesday, 7.45pm)

With chances running out to preserve their second-tier status, Birmingham City will play host to Cardiff City at St Andrew's @ Knighthead Park on Wednesday night in the Championship.

Blues are staring League One football in the face following Saturday's loss at Leicester City, whilst the Bluebirds' campaign has stalled as they head towards a mid-table finish.

We say: Birmingham City 1-0 Cardiff City

Despite the heartbreaking nature of the defeat at Leicester, there were plenty of positives to take from the performance for Birmingham, who simply need to pick up points at St Andrew's over the next week.

Cardiff's season is all but over, and we can envisage the visitors producing another limp performance on Wednesday night to continue their poor run of form.

Bristol City vs. Blackburn (Wednesday, 7.45pm)

Blackburn Rovers make the trip to Ashton Gate to face Bristol City on Wednesday evening looking for the win that could move them to the brink of avoiding relegation from the Championship.

At a time when the visitors sit in 16th position in the standings, Bristol City are in 12th place, albeit with little to play for during the remainder of 2023-24.

We say: Bristol City 1-1 Blackburn Rovers

Both teams have shown an improvement in form of late, putting a positive spin on matters in the short term. For us, we can only see a low-scoring draw being played out, a result that Blackburn would gratefully accept at this stage.

Hull City vs. Middlesbrough (Wednesday, 7.45pm)

Hull City and Middlesbrough square off at the MKM Stadium on Wednesday night knowing that victory could prove decisive in the Championship playoff race.

These two teams currently sit in ninth and eighth position in the standings respectively, six points adrift of the final spot.

We say: Hull City 1-2 Middlesbrough

With Hull now back on a high after the weekend victory in South Wales, they will fancy their chances of making it successive wins. However, Boro are currently one of the form teams in the division, and we are predicting that they will continue that run on Wednesday.

Ipswich vs. Watford (Wednesday, 7.45pm)

Ipswich Town play host to Watford on Wednesday evening with their promotion hopes still in their own hands despite the loss at rivals Norwich City.

At a time when the Tractor Boys sit in second position in the Championship standings, Watford are down in 14th spot, albeit on a four-match unbeaten run.

We say: Ipswich Town 2-1 Watford

With Watford having shown their solidity under Cleverley, this could prove to be a challenging game for Ipswich. Nevertheless, we are backing the home side to edge this contest, potentially courtesy of a fast start.

Swansea vs. Stoke (Wednesday, 8.00pm)

Swansea City and Stoke City square off in South Wales on Wednesday evening looking for the victory that may realistically prove pivotal in their efforts to avoid relegation.

These two teams currently sit in 15th and 18th position in the Championship standings respectively, albeit just five and four points clear of the bottom three.

We say: Swansea City 1-1 Stoke City

This has the feel of a game that will be regarded as 'must not lose' by both sides, and that is what we believe will transpire. A point apiece would keep things ticking over for both sides, so a low-scoring draw would not come as any great surprise.

West Brom vs. Rotherham (Wednesday, 8.00pm)

Aiming to get back to winning ways on their quest for promotion to the Premier League, West Bromwich Albion will welcome already-relegated Rotherham United to The Hawthorns on Wednesday night for a Championship clash.

The Baggies have stalled in recent weeks but still have their playoff fate in their own hands, while the Millers were recently sentenced to League One football next term following a painful season.

We say: West Bromwich Albion 2-0 Rotherham United

After failing to keep a clean sheet in the last three matches, Wednesday's battle versus Rotherham presents West Brom with a near-perfect opportunity to get back to their defensive best.

With their fate already confirmed, relegated Rotherham could play with greater freedom at The Hawthorns, but we still feel that the Millers will not be strong enough to earn a result.
