Preview: Bergerac Perigord vs. Versailles - prediction, team news, lineups

Sports Mole previews Wednesday's Coupe de France clash between Bergerac Perigord and Versailles, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

Bergerac Perigord will take on Versailles in the Coupe de France on Wednesday, with a spot in the semi-finals of the competition on offer for both sides.

The home side beat Saint-Etienne in the last round to progress to this stage, while Versailles recorded a 1-0 victory over Toulouse to secure their position in the final eight.

Match preview

Bergerac play their league football in Championnat Nacional 2 Group D, which is the fourth tier in France, so their position in this stage of the competition is a huge surprise.

Erwan Lannuzel's side have had to win five matches to reach the quarter-finals, overcoming Montulcon, Stade Bordelais, Metz, Creteil-Lusitanos and Saint-Etienne to advance to this stage.

Bergerac are actually unbeaten in all competitions since the start of September, and they are currently top of their league table, boasting 35 points from 17 matches, recording 10 wins in the process.

The victory over Metz in this tournament proved to be the first time that they had eliminated a first-tier side from the Coupe de France before following it up with a 1-0 success over Saint-Etienne at the end of January.

Versailles, meanwhile, have also had to win five matches to reach this stage of the competition, beating Olympique Lumbrois, Poissy, Sarre Union, La Roche VF and Toulouse.

A 79th-minute goal from Kapit Djoco proved to be the difference in the last round against Toulouse, with the result set to go down in the club's history.

Versailles also play their football in the fourth tier, and like Bergerac, they sit at the top of their division, picking up 34 points from 17 matches to sit first in Group A.

Youssef Chibhi's side will enter this contest off the back of a 1-1 draw with Guingamp II in the league on Saturday, while they are unbeaten in all competitions since November 20.

Team News

Bergerac have no fresh injury concerns heading into this contest, so it would not be a surprise to see the same XI that took to the field for the first whistle against Saint-Etienne in the last round.

Romain Escarpit came off the bench to net the winner in the last-16 affair, but Samir Bakir is again expected to lead the line, while Hicham M'Laab should also retain his spot in the first XI.

As for Versailles, Djoco netted the winner in the last round against Toulouse, which could earn him a spot in the starting XI for the quarter-final affair.

The visitors will be missing Melvyn Vieira following his red card against Toulouse, though, which will open the door for Kapokyeng Sylva to feature in central midfield.

There are not likely to be any major surprises in the away team's starting side, with Michel and Bissourou Toure set to retain their spots in the forward areas.

Bergerac Perigord possible starting lineup:
Laborde-Turon; Wachter, Mingoua, Letievant, Ducros; Fachan; M'Laab, Elissalt, Dumai, Sahibeddine; Bakir

Versailles possible starting lineup:
Delaunay; Durad de Gevigney, Akueson, Diouf; Pham Ba, Sylva, Diarrasouba, Traore; Michel, Djoco, Toure
