Belgium appoint former Everton manager Roberto Martinez as head coach

Euro 2016 quarter-finalists Belgium appoint former Everton, Wigan Athletic and Swansea City manager Roberto Martinez as their new head coach.

Former Everton boss Roberto Martinez has been appointed as the new head coach of Belgium.

The 43-year-old, who also managed Wigan Athletic and Swansea City, was sacked by the Toffees in May after three years in charge at Goodison Park.

Martinez takes over from Marc Wilmots, who left the post last month, two weeks after the Red Devils' Euro 2016 quarter-final defeat by Wales.

The vacancy for the job had been advertised online by the Belgian Football Association.
