Renan Bressan had a good chance for Belarus early on, but he was unable to keep his shot down when well positioned.
Egor Filipenko then went close shortly before the half-hour mark when he sent his right-footed effort over the bar.
It was Belarus who had the better of the openings in the first 45, and Maksim Bordachev was next to try his luck for the home side, but he could only draw a save from Matus Kozacik, after good work from Sergei Balanovich in the build-up.
