Bayern Munich boss Jupp Heynckes expects Robert Lewandowski to stay put

Bayern Munich manager Jupp Heynckes insists that Robert Lewandowski is likely to remain at the club despite interest from Real Madrid.

Bayern Munich manager Jupp Heynckes has predicted that Robert Lewandowski will remain at the club beyond the end of this season, despite reported interest from Real Madrid.

Heynckes has moved to dismiss speculation linking the Poland international with a move away from the German champions, and is expecting the prolific hitman to one day break his all-time Bundesliga record of 220 strikes.

"I know the Spanish media, there is a lot of speculation," the Bayern boss told reporters during a press conference. "I assume that Lewandowski will break my Bundesliga goalscoring record in the next two or three years."

Lewandowski is currently some way from exceeding Heynckes's scoring record, with 174 German top-flight goals to his name.

Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge previously insisted that their top goalscorer is not for sale.
