Thomas Muller double helps Bayern Munich beat Bayer Leverkusen

Two goals from Thomas Muller help Bayern Munich ease to a 3-0 victory at home to Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga.

Bayern Munich have maintained their 100% start to the season with a 3-0 victory over Bayer Leverkusen.

The only chance during a quiet opening 15 minutes fell to Thiago Alcantara, but his long-range strike was weak and never threatening Bernd Leno's goal.

The first half continued along the same pattern, with Leverkusen doing an effective job in restricting their hosts to speculative attempts, but on 26 minutes, Bayern went in front when Thomas Muller was on hand to convert from close range after being found by Douglas Costa.

Four minutes later, the Bundesliga champions were almost two goals to the good through the impressive Costa, who drilled a shot towards goal from inside the area that ricocheted off the post and bounced clear.

Bayern looked comfortable, but shortly before the break, Hakan Calhanoglu almost found a surprise equaliser for Leverkusen, only to see his free kick cannon back off the crossbar.

Shortly after the restart, Leverkusen should have been level but Stefan Kiessling saw his shot, and subsequent rebound, from inside the box saved by Manuel Neuer, and it took just 10 minutes for Bayern to capitalise and effectively seal the three points.

After a foul inside the box, Muller made no mistake from the penalty spot, and with 19 minutes remaining, it was 3-0 as Arjen Robben netted from 12 yards after Roberto Hilbert was adjudged to have handled the ball.

Robert Lewandowski and Mario Gotze had opportunities to make it four, but the defending champions were content with three as they continued their faultless start to the campaign.
