Roberto Mancini: 'Could Pep Guardiola succeed at a mid-table club?'

Roberto Mancini questions whether Pep Guardiola's methods would work at a mid-table club.

Roberto Mancini has questioned whether Pep Guardiola's methods would work at a mid-table club.

Guardiola has enjoyed success with both Barcelona and Bayern Munich, winning two Champions Leagues among many league titles with the Catalan club and securing back-to-back Bundesliga crowns with his current employers.

However, the Inter Milan boss is unsure whether the former defensive midfielder's methods would work at team who struggle to challenge for the title.

"He is doing well and his style of football works for teams like Bayern Munich and Barca, but I'd like to see him work at a mid-table side," Mancini told Sky Sports Austria.

"Regardless of that, Pep has some good ideas and is a very good coach."

Bayern currently have a nine-point lead at the top of the Bundesliga table.
