Pep Guardiola: 'Bayern Munich deserved to lose'

Bayern Munich coach Pep Guardiola admits that his team deserved to lose 4-1 away to Wolfsburg.

Bayern Munich coach Pep Guardiola has admitted that his side deserved their thrashing by Wolfsburg.

The Bavarians suffered their first Bundesliga defeat of the season last night as they were beaten 4-1 at the Volkswagen Arena.

Despite being on the wrong end of such a surprising result, Guardiola concedes that title rivals Wolfsburg were worthy victors.

"Congratulations to Wolfsburg, they did really well," he is quoted as saying by ESPN. "We deserved to lose. Wolfsburg were better and scored their goals at just the right time. We need to analyse what's happened and focus on the next game."

Bayern return to action on Tuesday when they host Schalke 04.
