Daniel Caligiuri: 'Wolfsburg were stunned by Bayern Munich response'

Daniel Caligiuri admits that Wolfsburg were "stunned" as Robert Lewandowski scored five goals in nine minutes to lead Bayern Munich to a 5-1 win.

Daniel Caligiuri has claimed that Wolfsburg were left stunned as Robert Lewandowski led Bayern Munich to a 5-1 victory on a remarkable night at the Allianz Arena.

A first-half strike from Caligiuri handed control to Wolfsburg heading into the break, but Lewandowski came off the bench at half time to score five goals in nine minutes as the Bundesliga champions stormed to victory.

On an evening when Lewandowski stole the show with his performance, Caligiuri admits that Wolfsburg must quickly turn their focus to putting the result behind them.

"We went in front but conceded the equaliser straight away in the second half," the midfielder told the club's website. "That stunned us and I don't really know what happened next. It was awful. We'll have to put it behind us quickly. That was a show of strength from Bayern."

Wolfsburg will look to recover from the defeat when they host Hannover on Saturday.
