Nile Ranger has admitted that he hopes he still has a future at Newcastle United after joining Championship club Barnsley.
After multiple off-the-field incidents, the troubled striker has been handed an opportunity to prove himself at Oakwell and he could make his debut against Leeds at the weekend.
"My main focus now is to go to Barnsley, score goals, play first team football and repay the faith manager Keith Hill has shown in me," Ranger told the Newcastle Journal.
"I needed to play again and maybe a spell away from Newcastle and the North East was the best for everyone."
Newcastle will look to bounce back from last weekend's defeat to Manchester City when they travel to Manchester United on Saturday afternoon.
